Linnet was inspired by the viral images of an anglerfish rising toward the surface.
It looked miraculous. A deep-sea creature reaching light for the first time.

But this is not a triumph.

The ascent is not curiosity or courage. It is the body doing something it is not meant to do. A final malfunction. A sign that something has already gone wrong.

Sometimes coming up for air is not recovery.
Sometimes it is just what happens right before everything gives out.
