Artist Statement
I came to painting after a head injury took my ability to write. Working digitally in a loose, sketchy, watercolor-inspired style, I create work that lives at the intersection of the dark and the tender, queer figures, strange bodies, and the emotions that resist being named. Drawing from chronic pain, queer and genderqueer identity, and the grief and beauty that come with both, it ranges from emotionally heavy pieces exploring identity and grief to celebratory portraits of queer icons and the occasional red panda who deserved better. I want viewers to recognize something in my work, not necessarily my story, but a feeling they already carry
