Min-ji
Min-Ji is a piece about releasing the hurts we carry inside us and the pain that can come with letting them go. The name Min-ji means clever or wise in Korean, and I chose it because facing our inner wounds often requires its own kind of quiet wisdom. It takes clarity to recognize what we have been holding onto, and courage to loosen our grip on it.
The spirits emerging from the figure’s arm represent fears, traumas, and old hurts that have lived beneath the surface for a long time. Letting them out is not gentle work. It can feel raw, frightening, and unsteady, like losing pieces of yourself you are not sure you can live without. But there is also relief in the release, a sense of finally giving shape to things that have lingered for too long.
