Morpheus

Morpheus is inspired by an old photo of my corgi as a puppy, small enough to fit easily in someone’s arms. What stayed with me was the softness of that moment, the way he looked completely safe and content, trusting the world without hesitation. There was something so pure in the way he rested into the embrace, as if love was the most natural thing he knew.

I made the human figure a skeleton because there were parts of my life that felt emptied out, like they no longer had weight or warmth. But Morpheus remains alive in the piece, full of softness and trust, because that love was real. He was the comforting part, the steady presence, the small bright thing I carried out of a time when so much else was falling apart.

Morpheus is about that mixture of memory and comfort, the strange way something can be gone and still matter, and the kind of steady love that stays no matter what falls away around you. It is a reminder that sometimes the smallest companions become our anchors, the ones who offer a lasting sense of safety when the rest of life feels uncertain.
