Helia

Helia began as my attempt to paint a skeleton couple, a way of showing closeness in its simplest, barest form. Around that time, I discovered sunflowers with deep red and purple centers and immediately wanted to include them. Sunflowers have always been one of my favorites. In the language of flowers, they symbolize happiness, loyalty, and adoration, which felt perfect for this pair.

The two figures lean gently into one another, stripped of everything but their connection. The vibrant sunflowers bloom around them like a warm aura, turning the scene into something tender and bright. Even in this skeletal form, there is affection and devotion, held quietly between them.
